What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting/Human Resource Assistant position at Hope Center for Children?
Qualifications: Minimum of three years’ work experience in general accounting. Experience in non-profit accrual accounting highly preferred. Must be proficient with Quickbooks and Microsoft Office Suite. General knowledge of Human Resources a plus.
Principle Responsibilities: This position is responsible for Payroll Processing, Accounts Receivable, and specific grant administration as it relates to the needs of the organization. The Accounting/Human Resources Assistant also provides support to the HR Manager in areas of hiring, background checks and onboarding.
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Scope: This hourly position will work approximately 40 hours per week. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: ensuring receivables are processed in a timely fashion. HR duties performed for onboarding. Payroll is accurate and the employee database related to payroll is current and accurate. Select grant oversight is performed including requesting grant reports and invoicing grants in an accurate and timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Processes payroll and maintains accuracy of payroll records and related items including staff payroll files. Includes journal entries, insurances, and tasks that require working directly with Human Resources
- Assists with grant tracking and reporting.
- Process Accounts Receivable in a timely fashion and track and follow-up with outstanding invoices.
- Track claims and payments for the Community Based therapy program.
- Maintains high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities.
- Assists CFO in annual audit preparation and interaction with auditors
- Serve as a backup as needed for petty cash, payables and bank statements including quarterly internal audits with payroll and various payable
- Assist HR with screening candidates, references, background checks and onboarding.
- Maintains high quality communication and interacts professionally with co-workers, clients, vendors, auditors, and members of the general public.
- Follows policies and procedures of Hope Center for Children.
- Other duties as assigned.

· Able to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
· Strong attention to detail and good computer skills are essential.
· Proficient in accounting principles and HR basic fundamentals.
· Expertise in QuickBooks.
· Strong staff relations and communication with team members.
· The ability to be precise, timely, and accurate with all assignments is required.
· Must be committed to understanding and conducting assigned work in a manner that is consistent with the organization's mission, values and core principles.
· Must be able to forge mutually respectful relationships while also ensuring compliance with policies.
