Job Description
Hope College is accepting applications for a full-time Data and Research Specialist responsible for updating and maintaining constituent records in the Philanthropy and Engagement database and ensuring that others in the division have accurate and complete data to support their work. This position will also perform prospect research tasks on behalf of the fundraising team.
This position is full-time and features flexible hours and will include both in-person and remote work options.
The Data and Research Specialist is part of a dynamic Philanthropy & Engagement team.
- Responsible for constituent data entry and updates, including contact information, employment, membership, communication, relationships and demographic information
- Responsible for entering and maintaining information to support the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts of the Philanthropy and Engagement Division
- Communicate with team and campus partners informing them of relevant updates
- Communicate with constituents as necessary to obtain missing information
- Handle a high volume of confidential material
- Handle large data entry and database clean-up projects
- Run routine data queries in Raiser’s Edge and other reporting systems as developed.
- Perform prospect research tasks including data retrieval, donor and prospect profiles and qualification research
- Promote and actively contribute to a positive team culture

- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or work experience through which equivalent skills have been gained
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in all aspects of work
- Excellent organizational and follow-through skills
- Ability to learn complex data entry codes and procedures quickly
- Initiative and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use tact, discretion, and good judgment in working with individuals and confidential information
- Strong work ethic and proven ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Strong written communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications or G Suite by Google (primarily Excel/Sheets and Word/Docs); and experience with enterprise or fundraising database systems (Raiser’s Edge or similar)
Physical Demands
This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities.
