What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Department Math. Science and Electives Teacher position at Hope for Youth?
To be a successful Classroom Teacher you must be ready, willing and able to do the following always:
- Function with agency's policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual
- Function within the agency's policy and procedures as outlined in the program guide and applicable codes of conduct
- Achieve successful outcomes within guidelines outlined in NYS, County and HFY policy and procedure (shared)
- Perform other resulting and necessary work to meet the needs and requirements of the clients, the program, Hope for Youth, oversight agency and any other legal or regulatory obligations
How will you generally spend your time in this job:
- Teach to the curriculum of secondary math and science.
- Implement appropriate instruction/learning strategies and activities, including determining appropriate kind and level of materials.
- Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning.
- Assess students abilities, strengths and weaknesses
- Supervise/monitor student's behavior in the classroom
- Organize and maintain a system of accurate and complete record-keeping, lesson planning, grading and reporting.
- Work collaboratively with the other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program
- Participate in Education, DES and NSD staff meetings
To qualify for this job, you need to be or have a minimum:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- NYS Teaching certification
- Physical Requirements: read/write reports and log entries, walking/standing for prolonged periods, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, repetitive wrist/finger movements lifting up to 501bs.
This Opportunity is being offered as Full-Time 33 hours/week

When determining an employee's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant
experience, education, licensing, certifications, other credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity, etc.).
Salary : $42,000 - $45,000
