Overview
The Direct Support Staff plays a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position involves assisting clients in daily living activities, promoting their independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being. Duties

• Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
• Provide support in meal preparation and cooking, ensuring nutritional needs are met.
• Monitor and document vital signs as needed, ensuring any changes in health status are reported promptly.
• Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
• Assist with mobility, including lifting or transferring clients safely when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients, adhering to hygiene standards.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for individuals under care.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care plans are followed.

Skills

• Experience in dementia care is highly desirable to effectively support clients with cognitive impairments.
• Strong cleaning skills to maintain a hygienic environment conducive to health and safety.
• Background in nursing or long-term care is beneficial for understanding medical needs and patient monitoring.
• Ability to cook nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements.
• Proficiency in lifting techniques to ensure safe handling of clients during mobility assistance.
• Compassionate approach with excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families.
• Knowledge of assisted living practices to enhance the overall care experience.

All positions require the transportation of people to and from work/activities, although we can make occasional exceptions for non-drivers. You must have a high school diploma or GED, the ability to pass a background check, a reliable vehicle, be at least 18 years of age, and have a driver's license or state ID.
