Mental Health Coordinator
JOB CLASSIFICATION / WORK EXPECTATIONS: SALARY: $60,000-$80,000
The Mental Health Coordinator is a full time, exempt position. Employees in this position follow the Year-Round Calendar for HOPE staff, as determined annually. The expected workday is to be in the main office for 8 hours daily, with regular trips to learning centers for assessment and meetings as needed.

SUMMARY:
The role of the Mental Health Coordinator is to maintain compliance on all Special Services Provider rules as governed by the Colorado Department of Education and the Douglas County School District. This position will include working with all students in grades 6-12.
The Mental Health Coordinator provides departmental oversight to assist the staff in providing supportive services HOPE-wide at all educational levels. The full scope of School Social Work services includes assessment, intervention, consultation and education, advocacy, professional development for the Mental Health team including but not limited to, school mental health/social emotional wellness services, and intervention programming for students, families and staff and administrative support. In addition, this position serves as the Leader for Mental Health/SSP, including staff supervision and serves as Field Instructor/Supervisor in the area of social work for students and interns, as applicable.

Supports supervisees in serving as:
A liaison between schools, the special education department, and other stakeholders.
Serving as a resource to Mentors and staff regarding social work services and the academic/social needs of students.
Providing in-service training and workshops for mentors and staff regarding mental health issues and proper procedures for the identification and referral of students.
Participating in development of positive behavioral intervention strategies in concert with individual, group, and family input.
Serving as a member of the assessment team assigned to each site and works as a team member in making placements decisions, developing intervention plans, and planning programs to meet the special needs of children.
Communicating and collaborating with all stakeholders to provide a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
Identifying environmental barriers to children’s access to public education and makes appropriate community referrals.

Apply and support newly learned skills in the sites, community, and/or home environment.
Mental Health Professional Development/Implementation and Leadership;
Mental Health Assessment, Data Collection, and Progress monitoring of students;
Provides consultation services to staff and parents related to homelessness, Child Protective Services (CPS), attendance, residency, custody, and other areas, as appropriate.
Engages in planning and casework for students with special needs.
Attends and participates in Child Study, Attendance Improvement, Manifestation Determination Review, IEP, Section 504 and Eligibility meetings, as appropriate.
Works in partnership with parents and others on those problems in a child’s living situation (home, school, and community) that affect the child’s adjustment in school. Provides outreach services and assists in contacts with parents who may be difficult to reach.
Supports students and staff through participation in a muli-tiered support system (MTSS).
Serves on student support teams and special education committees at sites as appropriate Assists the school in following school board / HOPE regulations for excessive absences and truancy; Attends student support team meetings and helps to develop improved attendance intervention plans as appropriate

Requirements
EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Required
Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) LCSW, SPP or eligibility for licensure
Ability to interact with a variety of community service personnel.
Experience working with parents, students, and individuals from a variety of populations and backgrounds.
Ability to communicate effectively with parents, public agencies, and building personnel.
Understanding of the school social work profession including associated laws (IDEA, ADA, compulsory attendance, etc.)
Ability to plan and organize.
Knowledge of child development (6-12 grades), psychopathology, social and environmental conditioning, cultural diversity and family systems.
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Ability to communicate with and provide consistent direction and leadership to the department.
Preferred
Master’s Degree in an Education-related major
Additional CDE license endorsements including Special Providers License
Five years of teaching and/or instructional leadership with diverse students in a community based, blended learning environment
Experience in learning specialist to lead, facilitate, present to provide topic specific professional development
Experience in diagnosing the roots of academic gaps in students
Familiar with state-level and locally identified assessment for students
Manage, organize and interpret data and share in a meaningful way

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Mental Health Coordinator reports to and is supervised and evaluated by ______________________with feedback from other members of the HOPE instructional team and Learning Centers. This position supervises employees in the HOPE Mental Health department regarding content and Mental Health team activities.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL FUNCTIONING REQUIREMENTS:

LOCATION, WORKING ENVIRONMENT, AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is routinely performed in an office virtually or in person. Compensation for mileage is per the HOPE Mileage policy. The Mental Health Coordinator is based at the HOPE Office and plays a central role in supporting HOPE Communities at multiple sites. In addition to maintaining a presence at the central office, the Coordinator conducts scheduled visits to Learning Centers to provide support, Coordinator acts as a bridge between the HOPE Office and stakeholders, ensuring consistent communication, implementation of best practices, and equitable support for all of the HOPE community.
