The Occupational Therapist at Hope Network provides comprehensive clinical consultations, evaluations, and rehabilitation programming for individuals with autism. This role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop goals and promote community integration, focusing on person-centered approaches to treatment.
The primary responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist include providing clinical consultations, evaluations, and rehabilitation programming for individuals at the Center for Autism. Services may include: preliminary screening of individual needs, ADL and clinical evaluation and treatment, maintaining accurate data and treatment records, and participation in departmental maintenance and program development.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
- Train, schedule, and supervise assigned staff in carrying out individual treatment plans.
- Services provided may include: sensory processing evaluation, performing ADL, IADL, and/or other appropriate clinical assessments, designing and monitoring subsequent treatment, identifying appropriate treatment techniques and activities, and participating in staff education and training as needed.
- Promote community integration.
- Develop and implement groups and family education from established goals.
- Ensure assessment, goal setting, and treatment are person-centered.
- Collaborate with primary Case Holder to ensure goals are included in the Individual Plan of Service (IPOS) when necessary.
- Complete timely documentation of progress notes, initial evaluations, and discharge summaries, home assessments, home programs, and consultation notes as indicated.
- Monitor individual progress and maintain accurate records of treatment through data collection and treatment reports as assigned.
- Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team for assigned individuals.
- Develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with all individuals.
- Attend and verbally present at team meetings, clinical reviews, staff meetings, and in-services. Attend departmental meetings and participate in program development.
- Order individual specific treatment supplies and equipment.
- Follow established policies and procedures to ensure safety of staff and individuals.
- Provide supervision for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and/or OT students as required.
Position Qualifications:
- Minimum Education required: Master's degree.
- Licensed by State of Michigan MS, OTR/L.
- Two years of professional work experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in verbal and written formats to meet position expectations.
- Valid driver's license required according to Hope Network policy.
