Job Summary :
The Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) will provide mental health services in the San Fernando community in order to de-escalate crises, assess the mental health needs of families and individuals, coordinate services with other providers, and make necessary referrals. The mobile crisis response team will work in collaboration with the LAPD to respond to non-violent calls in the community that may have a social services impact including but not limited to (a) mental health, (b) substance abuse, (c) suicidal threats, (d) behavioral distress, (e) conflict resolution, and (f) welfare checks.
The LMHP is dedicated to providing needed services within the community and is passionate about attending to the safety and well-being of the people in the local communities. The LMHP possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills when working with clients, outside agencies, members of the community, and co-workers. When in a client’s home or in the San Fernando community, the LMHP will employ a calm demeanor and good ethical and professional boundaries. Excellent clinical skills are used to assess the appropriate level of care for clients and stabilize the crisis situation at hand. Teaming, collaborating and coordinating care with all Hope the Mission staff, local law enforcement leads, and other outside agencies is crucial. This position requires flexibility, excellent time management skills, and the ability to manage responsibilities efficiently with little day-to-day supervision. However, weekly supervision will be offered for support from the Senior Director of Mental Health and the Lead Clinical Director for the duration of the grant.
This position is a grant-funded position, dependent on grant funding and conditions.
Skills and Minimum Qualifications :
- Active Licensed LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or Licensed Psychologist (Required).
- Post Master’s clinical work treating children and / or adolescents, adults, and elder adults preferred.
- Valid California driver’s license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company; have immediate access to one’s vehicle during work hours.
- Ability to pass a Background Check and LiveScan before employment.
- Ability to pass MVR Check.
- Employment eligibility verification.
- The LMHP will work in 10-hour shifts with no on-call responsibility when off shift.
- The LMHP will work a 4-day work week on-site at the San Fernando Police Department.
- 1 Years of experience with Mobile Crisis Teams preferred.
- Proficiency with SMART Goals.
- Knowledge of LACDMH systems and processes.
- Bilingual Spanish is highly preferred (verbal and written skill set).
- Experience with mental health, substance abuse, suicidal threats, behavioral distress, conflict resolution, and welfare checks is required.
- Self-starter, independent therapist with the ability to adapt to change in a fast-working environment.
- Strong clinical, written, and communication skills.
- Ability to relate effectively and professionally with children, families, adults, supervisors, co-workers, and staff.
- Strong computer skills, Google Suite (e.g., GMail, Google Sheets, Google Forms), Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word), and Electronic Health Record software (Exym).
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and skilled with time / task management, able to adapt to frequent changes.
- Strong problem-solving skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS, EQUIPMENT

Work Environment
The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using alcohol and drugs, and who may not be attentive to basic personal hygiene, health, and safety practices. The employee may experience several unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client's use of alcohol and drugs, and lack of personal hygiene. The employee must be ready to respond quickly and effectively to many types of situations, including crisis situations and potentially hostile situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in an office setting. Sometimes work may become stressful when working under pressure.
