What are the responsibilities and job description for the Children's Ministry Coordinator position at Hope United Methodist Church?
Position Summary:
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator at Hope United Methodist Church plans, prepares, and implements Christ-centered curriculum and activities for children ages preschool through fifth grade.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Select, plan, and prepare weekly Sunday school lessons, activities, and crafts for children ages preschool through fifth grade.
- Supervise and equip volunteers involved in the children’s ministry program at Hope.
- Be on-site at Hope UMC on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00 am.
Other Duties:
- Secure, prepare, and distribute resources and supplies needed for lessons, activities, and crafts for Sunday school classes.
- Prepare and equip volunteers to effectively teach and implement lesson plans, activities, and crafts.
- Make sure all materials used are put away and classroom space is cleaned.
- Coordinate and support staff who provide weekly nursery care for infants and young toddlers during worship services.
- Develop a reliable check-in/check-out process for children with parents and/or guardians.
- Provide the Pastor advance notice of absences and prepare volunteers for activities and lessons when needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
Age 21 or older.
High school diploma or equivalent education.
Experience working with elementary-age children.
Experience working with parents and caregivers of children.
Must be a very dependable person.
Strong communication skills.
This person will need to complete a background check.
This person will need to complete a Safe Gatherings safety training through Hope UMC.
Children's Ministry Coordinator Reports to:
Hope UMC Pastor and the Staff Parish Relations Committee at Hope UMC
Classification/Hours:
Non-exempt, part-time position.
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator will $20/hour and will work 5-7 hours every week.
Payments will be made monthly via direct deposit.
