Follow-Up Crisis WorkerREPORTS TO : Follow Up SupervisorSalary : $17-20 Hourly, Non-exempt, EssentialShift Times may Be Subject to Change Based Upon Contractual and Operational Needs.Current Training Schedule is 10a-6p Monday-Friday regardless of hired shift, held for 3 weeks with an additional 1 week of On-the-Job Trainings and Supported Shifts. All Trainings must be attended in Full.SUMMARY STATEMENT OF POSITION : The Follow-Up Crisis Worker is responsible for providing continued emotional support, crisis intervention, and safety assessments for individuals following an initial crisis contact. This role ensures continuity of care by engaging contacts through scheduled follow-ups via phone, chat, and / or text to reassess risk levels, offer ongoing emotional support, and provide additional referrals or resources as needed. Follow-Up Crisis Workers uphold best practices in crisis intervention, documentation, and suicide prevention, working collaboratively with community partners to enhance client outcomes.PRIMARY DUTIES : Engage contacts through scheduled follow-up contact utilizing our core philosophies, providing crisis intervention, risk assessments, emotional support, and referrals to appropriate resources.Ensure adherence to 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline Standards, as well as HopeLink Behavioral Health policies and procedures.Monitor and document contact progress, reassessing safety concerns and modifying intervention strategies as necessary. Facilitate safety planning and conduct follow-up assessments for individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts or emotional distress.Conduct direct safety and risk assessments to address suicidality; engage Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) for emergency services, in compliance with required assessments and policy guidance.Maintain accurate documentation in contact records and contact reports to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.Ensure confidentiality is upheld in all interactions and accurately document in corresponding contact reports throughout and at the end of each contact.Engage in a supportive and collaborative work environment, to maintain open communication with supervisors, clinical, and administrative support staff.Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities provided by and through HopeLink to stay current on job-related knowledge, upon completion of required training.Support overall operations by completing administrative tasks and additional duties as assigned.ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES : Listens attentively, validates emotions, and communicates clearly while maintaining a calm, clear, and supportive tone. Demonstrating genuine care, creating a safe space for contacts.Identifies risk levels, warning signs, and implements appropriate interventions, including emergency response when necessary.Remains flexible and professional in high-pressure, emotionally intense situations while practicing self-care.Evaluates situations, determines appropriate responses, and provides effective resources.Adheres to privacy laws, ethical guidelines, and policies to maintain trust.Works effectively with peers and supervisors while engaging in ongoing training and development.QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor's preferred, degrees in Social Services, Public Health or Human Services; will consider relevant experience in lieu of education.Ability to attend and successfully complete mandatory 120-hour Crisis Services Training.Secure access to reliable hardwired, high-speed internet and a personal computer that meets minimum requirements, as we utilize multiple platforms (including Zoom) throughout shift.Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate easily understood over chat and text-based service, along with phone skills due to outbound calls.Strong computer skills with various software - Microsoft Products proficient skills experience and proficient typing skills.Demonstrated knowledge and ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Along with a solid support system, and capacity to hold others' emotions.Understanding of confidentiality and privacy issues within a crisis center program.High degree of empathy toward the people we serve and demonstrated knowledge of distress tolerance and coping skills.PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS : Engage with individuals in crisis and community members professionally, following established protocols to ensure effective support.Uphold confidentiality and privacy standards for all information shared during crisis interaction(s).Respond with acceptance, empathy, and non-judgmental communication with objectivity.Adhere to the assigned shift schedule and follow program procedures when requesting coverage for an assigned shift.Ability to remain alert on scheduled shifts; experience working swing shifts preferred for overnight positions.
