Hopewell Health Centers is a nationally accredited federally qualified health and community mental health center with 23 sites across TEN counties throughout Southeastern Ohio (Athens, Franklin, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Perry, Ross, Vinton, and Washington). We are currently seeking Behavior Aides to join our Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit in Gallipolis, OH working 7-3pm and/or 3-11pm.

*One (1) part time, 25-29 hours, 7A-3P and/or 3P-11P
As a Behavior Aide, you will be responsible for providing quality, trauma informed therapeutic interventions for youth in crisis who present to the YCSU. The Behavior Aide staff will provide billable services during youth’s residency. Staff assist youth in crisis with their day-to-day functioning, are the initial interventionists when a youth is having loss of emotional regulation or behavioral issues, provide supportive counseling that parrots and extends from the youth’s treatment goals, and facilitates/co-facilitates group counseling/activities.
Some of the Behavior Aides responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Facilitate life skills through individual and groups on topics such as interpersonal skills, communication skills, anger and stress management, self-esteem, social skills, daily living skills, problem solving skills, and positive coping skills.
- Participate in conjunction with other treatment team members in recognition, development, and monitoring of goals outlined in youth resident’s individual service plan (ISP).
- Immediately report to Director/Site Manager/RN/Therapist respectively available and assigned to youth’s case with concern as to any dangerous behaviors that could include, but are not limited to: suicidal actions or threats; damage to property; threats of actual or perceived violence; or any other behavior of potential imminent danger to one’s self or others.
- Encourages, educates, and assists (when needed) youth residents to complete their own daily living activities of chores to keep common living areas and bathrooms clean and orderly, as well as completing their personal laundry.

What do we look for in our Behavior Specialists??
- Eligible to work in the United Stated
- Experience and/or training working with youth in a residential setting preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in mental health or closely related field preferred.
- Ability to work with emotionally distressed youth and their families who present in a crisis state
- Education in areas of mental health treatment, behavior management, social services, or similarly related fields is preferred
- One (1) or more years’ experience in crisis management is preferred
- Mental health or substance abuse interventions with youth and their families is preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Must possess the ability to work closely with clients and team members in problem solving; ability to work responsibly, ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form.
- The candidate must be able to understand and relate to the family’s values and culture and the child’s interest.
