Revenue Cycle Specialist

Hopewell Health Centers is a nationally accredited federally qualified health and community mental health center with 23 sites across TEN counties throughout Southeastern Ohio (Athens, Franklin, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Perry, Ross, Vinton, and Washington). We are currently seeking a Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our Chillicothe, OH billing team.

As a Revenue Cycle Specialist, you will be responsible for processing third party claims, including cross-over insurance claims. Review patient accounts for potential sliding fee scale discount. Processing payments received by patients and third party through mail. Issue and track refunds to patients and insurance companies. Communicate with patients and insurance companies concerning patient’s accounts. The Revenue Cycle Specialist will also be responsible for preparing bank deposits for our Chillicothe site. Running monthly reports to determine delinquent claims. Other duties will include the following:

• Review and analyze claims prior to submission for accuracy and completeness to ensure clean claims submission.
• Perform timely follow up on claims not processed and/or paid by third party payers.
• Utilize payer portals to verify and confirm eligibility, claim status and contact insurance carriers if needed to expedite accurate payment of claims.
• Review remittances advise to ensure proper and accurate payment posting for claims.
• Review and resolve credit balance accounts requesting refunds to payers and patients as identified.
• Provides regular updates as necessary regarding status of unbillable, unpaid claims to Billing Director.
• Participates in interactive department meetings and discussions to ensure processes, priorities and procedures are aligned to department and organization objectives.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing regulations and guidelines for services rendered by the organization.
• Handle patient inquiries regarding billing issues and provide excellent customer service.
• Collaborate with staff across the organization to correct insurance, patient documentation and correct coding to support correct billing of claims.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient records and financial information
• Other related duties as required by Director.

What do we look for in our Revenue Cycle Specialists??

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Strong communication and customer service skills;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience, with a focus on behavioral health services is preferred;
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding and familiarity with Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance billing processes
