What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Receptionist position at Hopkins Medical Association?
POSITION SUMMARY: Maintains a customer service rapport with patients to encourage and assist patients to access care.
QUALIFICATIONS: The Medical Receptionist will be well-organized and attentive to detail. The ideal candidate would have at least one year of medical experience, maintain a teamwork approach to everyday tasks, possess a strong work ethic, and have excellent communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Establishing and maintaining patient communication.
2. Managing and scheduling patient appointments
3. Responding to new patient requests
4. Responding to existing patient communications
5. Minimizing no shows and cancellations
6. Being familiar with practice services and fees
7. Support the back office, as needed
8. Completes all required documentation, internal communications daily or within the specified timeframe.
9. Notifies appropriate staff/providers of any schedule changes.
10. Completes charges accurately and in a timely manner.
11. Provides miscellaneous clerical support as needed.
12. Keeps office clean, organized, and without clutter. Assists in ordering office supplies.
13. Assist with Xeroxing and posting advance schedules. Retrieve and send faxes.
14. Assists patients, visitors, other departments, coworkers and providers as necessary; exhibits excellent customer relations. Shows courtesy, compassion and respect. Answers telephone and reports all messages promptly, using effective telephone etiquette.
15. Completes assigned duties in a timely fashion and organizes work to complete duties effectively and efficiently.
16. Reports to work at the start of shift ready to perform assigned duties, abides by attendance policy to include regular staff meeting attendance.
17. Other duties as assigned by supervisor, Executive Team, CEO

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Primarily works inside. Light physical work, sitting, writing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds. Must possess physical condition adequate for performance of the work. Must possess physical conditioning adequate for performance of the work.
