We currently have a rewarding career opportunity available for a Director of Nursing (DON). The DON is responsible for developing, directing, and monitoring all nursing-related operations within the facility. In order to provide the highest quality of care and services to our residents, applicant must possess strong management, leadership, and communication skills.
DON Responsibilities:
- Maintain nursing service policies and procedures to implement the program of care.
- Complete forms, reports, evaluations, studies related to nursing operations.
- Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies.
- Participate in coordination of patient services through departmental and appropriate staff committee meetings (e.g., infection control, patient care policies, and quality control).
- Cooperate with the administration in planning the competence of the personnel. Specific attention is given to improving supervisory skills of the charge nurses, and multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
- Participate in planning and budgeting for nursing services.
- Review the nursing requirements of each patient admitted to the facility and assist the attending physician, as needed in planning for each patient’s care.
- Establish a procedure for ensuring that nursing personnel have a valid and current license.
- Written job description for each level of nursing.
- Daily rounds to see all patients.
- Methods for coordination of nursing services with other patient services,
- Must be available after hours to remedy problems that arise in the nursing department.
- Responsibility for staffing, training, supervision, discipline, and schedule for department.
DON Requirements:
- Current/valid Registered Nurse licensure required.
- Long-term care experience required.
- Minimum of one year of successful experience as a DON in a skilled nursing facility is preferred.
