- Maintains the district’s crisis management plan and response protocols per state, federal, and local guidelines.
- Coordinates with leadership and community partners to establish emergency response teams and conduct risk, hazard, and vulnerability assessments.
- Leads drills, crisis simulations, and training sessions, providing feedback to improve emergency preparedness.
- Demonstrates the cultural awareness skills needed to enable effective partnerships with multicultural and multiracial student body.
- Oversees security cameras, visitor management systems and access badge protocols for employees, volunteers, and visitors.
- Researches and implements best practices for school safety systems, including surveillance and emergency procedures.
- Advises district leaders on emergency policies, video surveillance, and security technologies.
- Facilitates District Holistic Safety Team and supports School Holistic Safety Teams.
- Investigates and reports criminal activities on district property, collaborating with key district leaders and law enforcement partners.
- Manages the District’s emergency preparedness handbook, safety resources, and website content, as aligned with the I Love U Guys & PREPaRE framework.
- Provides oversight and training for cameras, sensors, and other safety installations designed to increase security of schools.
- Acts as the primary liaison with Hopkins, Minnetonka, and Golden Valley emergency response agencies.
- Activates and coordinates crisis response protocols.
- Supports district leaders, staff, and students during emergencies.
- Maintain and understand resource status including how to request and receive resources.
- Maintains records of drills, incidents, and emergency responses.
- Conducts post-incident evaluations to improve safety plans.
- Presents safety reports and recommendations to leadership including School Board directors.

- Develops and shares safety resources to promote resilience and preparedness.
- Partners with school leaders to train, support, and supervise building safety coaches to engage in crisis mitigation as well as emergency response protocols.

- Stays updated on safety trends and technologies.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance, flexibly and creatively managing daily work hours to accommodate and incorporate coordination of and participation in evening and special event support or crisis response.
- Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, public safety, emergency management, public or business administration, or other related areas is preferred.
- Three (3) years of related experience is preferred.
- Experience utilizing the Incident Command System (ICS) protocol for organizational preparedness and operations and/or I Love U Guys Foundation® Standard Response Protocol™ is preferred
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license and evidence of mobility are required.
- Minnesota Emergency Management Training Certificate, and/or Certified Emergency Manager through the International Association of Emergency Managers, and/or equivalent Certificate of Completion of Incident Command System 100, 200, 300, and 400, or Minnesota equivalent are preferred.
- Expertise in security and emergency management operations.
- Proficiency in Incident Command Structures (ICS), National Incident Management System (NIMS) including Incident Action Plan (IAP) creation & maintenance, and safety mandates.
- Conducting security assessments and emergency preparedness planning.
- Knowledge of security technology (video surveillance, access control, alarms, radios).
