    SUMMARY:
    Develops, implements, and maintains an information media program that reflects the mission, goals, and objectives of the district.

    Purpose Statement:
    The ideal candidate is both a technology visionary as well as an action-oriented and student-centered operator and will lead Hopkins’ online and blended strategies. They have mastery of their content and instructional expertise and an interest in creating an educational model that fully aligns with Vision 2031. This person has a strong technology background and can apply this skill set to create digital curriculum, build a blended learning model and create personalized learning for all scholars. The Technology Integration Specialist team supports both school site teams and district teams in reimaging school from the ground up.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.
    • Provides leadership, training, and support to teachers in the integration of strategies and skills related to Hopkins Technology and Information Literacy Standards.
    • Collaborates with teachers in academic departments and grade-level teams in the design and implementation of learning tasks that align technology standards with content standards and curriculum.
    • Collaborates with teachers on ways to incorporate available information resources (print or electronic) into their curriculum lessons and projects.
    • Selects, locates, and organizes resources for class assignments.
    • Consults with teachers on lesson design, copyright guidelines, and the use of electronic note taking and citation tools that will encourage the responsible and ethical use of information by students.
    • Provides training and assistance to staff on the efficient use of digital management, productivity, collaboration, communication, and reporting tools.
    • Informs and confers with staff about School Board policies such as Copyright, Materials Selection & Retention, Reconsideration, and Acceptable Use.
    • Provides information and consultation to building staff regarding media and technology services by serving on building leadership groups such as site planning, staff development, department chair, and curriculum committees.
    • Provides on-site orientation for new staff about building and District media and technology services.
    • Determines ways to support annual Q-Comp goals, such as improving literacy among all students.
    • Demonstrate and teach effective strategies for locating, accessing, and evaluating both print and electronic information within and beyond the Media Center.
    • Supports students in the creation and completion of projects and assignments using technology tools and other appropriate resources efficiently and responsibly.
    • Guides students in the process of resolving computer and technology issues independently.
    • Provides reading, viewing, and listening guidance appropriate to the students' interests, goals, needs, and abilities.
    • Establishes policies and procedures for the efficient management of the Media Center and other shared resources in the school such as computer labs and mobile tech equipment.
    • Manages all aspects of the media budgets, including the purchase of books, electronic resources, subscriptions, equipment, and supplies.
    • Maintains the school Media Center webpage, including up-to-date information about services, online subscription links, book promotions, and style guides.
    • Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in education, or a closely related field.
    Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
    Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
    • Driver’s license.
    • State of Minnesota Teaching Certificate.
    • Library Media Specialist State License.

    Required Knowledge and Skills
    Required Knowledge:
    • Best practices in teaching and learning.
    • Current digital tools and resources.
    • National, state, and district educational goals and standards.
    • District policies and procedures.
    • Principles and techniques of making effective oral presentations.
    • Computer applications related to the work.
    • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

    • Evaluating workflow and effectively prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Work is performed in a classroom and a general library environment, with moderate physical requirements; requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Jobs in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree, long periods of working with computers, and working with children. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
    Work is performed in a school setting.
    Travel required to locations throughout the District.
