Role Summary:
The Loan Servicing Representative performs a variety of Loan Servicing functions in connection with Commercial, Real Estate, and Consumer Loans, and Credit Cards. Responsibilities include payment processing, performing loan account maintenance, portfolio reconciliation, escrow maintenance & closure, checking back loan documents to the core system, scan, index, and quality control of paper documents for electronic storage, internal and government agency reporting, responding to customer inquiries, and processing paid loan files.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enthusiastically support the Bank sales function by providing exceptional service to internal and external customers of the Bank.
- Professionally handle customer and employee inquiries and maintain confidentiality of customer account information by following established policies and procedures.
- Balance various loan related reports; generate and review crystal reports; review loan billing notices and statements prior to mailing.
- Post loan and credit card payments and loan and card maintenance; process internal loan advance requests; create and update automatic payments, post loan deferrals; process transactions on impaired loans.
- Verify posted transactions and review maintenance performed to loans and credit cards for precision, clarity, and completeness.
- Check back new and renewed loan documents against the core banking system, including exception tracking. Identify changes to documents that need to be reviewed for compliance with bank regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and prepare index rate changes for input into System Administration.
- Report, initiate payment remittance, and reconcile loans sold on the secondary market (Federal Home Loan Bank and Freddie Mac) in addition to SBA reporting.
- Apply participation payments; verify the accuracy of bank records in comparison to the originating lenders records, request monies from participating FIs for loan funding as well as report and wire payments to the participating FIs.
- Verify hazard insurance is in place for mortgage secured properties, confirm sufficient coverage and Horicon Bank as listed mortgagee.
- Set-up escrow accounts and disburse monies for taxes, insurance, and PMI/USDA payments; prepare yearly analysis.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist employees with questions and concerns relating to internal bank loan operations.
- Update knowledge and develop professionally on a continuing basis. Participate in internal and external training and development opportunities as required.
- Perform other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of previous banking or related experience required.
- Computer literacy including experience with Office Suite, MS Word, Excel, and other computer software products.
- Ability to plan and prioritize a diversified workload, multi-task; exercise good judgment in all areas of responsibility; and work effectively under pressure and deadlines.
- Independent critical thinking skills, high attention to detail, and ability to analyze data and provide practical solutions.
- Communication skills with ability to effectively communicate and problem-solve with customers and employees.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a pleasant office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Frequent mental concentration is necessary for listening and responding to various situations. Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds unassisted. Some twisting, bending, and turning is required. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and average 40 hours a week. Some unscheduled evening and weekend work may be required.
