Description:
This opening is for a PART-TIME/ON-CALL Direct Support Professional (DSP). DSPs help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live their lives. Everyday duties include cleaning, housekeeping, medication administration, cooking, caregiving, bathing, and transportation assistance. Additionally, DSPs accompany our clients when they go fishing, attend the county fair, shop for clothing, or go on vacation.
Part-time employees cover absences from full-time due to illness, vacation, medical leave, etc. Successful employees reliably work their assigned shifts within their specified work availability.
Wage Range: $16 - $22 per hour, starting wage depends on verified experience
Location: Milton-Freewater, OR
Work Schedule:
Scheduled less than 30 hours per week. HPI will not require you to exceed 30 hours per week. However, you may voluntarily agree to cover absences of up to 40 hours per week, provided this coverage does not extend beyond 5 consecutive work weeks.
Must work a minimum of 8 hours per bi-weekly pay period (2 weeks), unless otherwise arranged with their supervisor. Failure to meet this requirement for 2 consecutive pay periods will result in termination. Exceptions are made if no shifts are offered during that time.
Cover absences, vacations, and sick leave for full-time staff
Expected to be available to work within their declared availability when given proper notice.
Work Requirements:
May refuse shifts within their availability up to 3 times per month. Exceeding this will result in termination.
Refusals are not counted against them when (1) the offered shift would cause them to exceed 30 hours per week, (2) they are not given at least 2-hours notice of a shift assignment, or (3) they arranged for their absence in advance.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to:
Following medical procedures regarding dispensing, administering, and documenting client medication, notifying appropriate persons of client injuries and accidents, and scheduling client medical appointments and follow-ups.
Following safety procedures including understanding evacuation plans, maintaining current CPR Certification (paid training provided), and ensuring a clean and safe living environment for the clients
Following program procedures regarding client service plans, individual support plans, and action plans.
Following financial procedures regarding client and household bank accounts and petty cash.
Assisting with client care including bathing, dental hygiene, transportation, housekeeping, and cooking.
Following professional behavior standards by communicating with teammates and supervisors, being open to suggestions for improvement, maintaining proper attendance, and respecting the dignity of teammates and clients
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age, clear an Oregon State criminal background check, and urine drug test.
Must have a valid driver's license that is insurable by Horizon Project's auto insurance provider (Drivers may work any shift, non-drivers can only work graveyard/NOC shift).
Must complete CPR & First Aid training within first 90 days of employment (Paid training is provided).
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbal, oral, and written.
Physical Demands
Physical demands include assisting in all aspects of activities of daily living for clients, transporting clients, and traveling from location to location as needs dictate.
