City Experiences is seeking a Business Development Manager for our Sales operations.

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.

About The Opportunity

The successful Business Development Manager will develop and execute on our super-charged efforts to drive revenue generating relationships on the national and local level. Guided by entrepreneurial thought and consistent efforts, this position will drive incremental revenue at the individual and group level.

Strategic Partnerships

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Indy Direct/Indirect Markets

  • Re-introduce our standardized concierge referral program to all hotels within the market, with a goal of doubling year-over-year revenue.
  • Partner with local universities and colleges to become a ticket re-seller for their employee perks programs, offering tickets on consignment (Harvard/MIT concept)
  • Establish HR ticket distribution programs with all local Fortune 500 companies, offering tickets at a discounted rate with the goal of improving brand recognition within the corporate market while driving direct ticket sales.
  • Seek out any other revenue producing partnership that would prove to be a positive margin generator, then work with revenue management and leadership to develop out packaging.
  • Work in conjunction with the General Manager to build a more sales facing ticket booth operation and street team, with the goal of building our presence within our cities.
  • Identify potential areas for kiosk locations, to drive more ad-hoc sales in areas with high foot traffic.
  • Work with leadership to create new packaging that bundles City Cruises product with Walks and Devour products, potentially exclusive packaging that can be sold by our concierge market.
  • Partner with the top 10 festivals in each port, with the goal of offering attendees discounted rates to come cruise aboard one of our products while they are in town.


Group Markets

  • Work with local hotel Sales Directors to roll out a new group referral program, with the goal of creating an enhanced referral network to increase our group sales.
  • Partner with other local attractions to refer business back and forth as needed, again, with the goal of driving incremental sales.
  • Seek group referral business from HR contacts at selected corporations through which we can partner for an HR perks program.
  • Research and reach out to the top 10 Travel Management Companies in the US, as these companies focus on business travel and relocations.
  • Identify top national social associations, with the goal of becoming a preferred partner, which will open the door to chapter events, in addition to the national level events.
  • Obtain a list of all vendors that Hornblower works with, reaching out to the contacts at each company for a referral to their event planner for possible future events.
  • Identify and partner with key bridal shops and jewelers in each port, offering discounted rates or certs at cost in exchange for referral weddings and wedding-related events.
  • As directed, work on national partnerships with the support of the Director of Business Development and National Leadership.


Community Partnerships And Awareness

  • Serve as the face of the port, attending weekly/monthly open houses and networking events tied to:
    • Local CVB’s
    • MPI
    • Chambers of Commerce
    • Any other local memberships
  • As identified at networking events, build all new contacts and opportunities into campaigns in Salesforce, to allow for proper tracking of incremental revenue generation.
  • Drive referrals from the CVB’s and all other entities listed above, with specific focus on convention and incoming groups coming to the city.
  • Identify opportunities with local associations to host events that bolster our presence and name brand recognition in the city.
  • Work with leadership to identify and host monthly open house opportunities, specially to the group markets, including corporate and weddings. This would include monthly showcase events, wedding open houses and all other events meant to drive new prospects to the boat.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years in leadership with the Hornblower portfolio
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with track record of success
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Team player and have ability to work independently, self-motivating
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization
