Finance Intern

Position Overview

Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is seeking an intern in the Finance Department. The Finance Intern gains hands-on experience with the department, assists with reconciliations, accounts payable and receivables, budgets, general accounting entries and other day-to-day operations.

This is a paid internship. Interns will be paid $15.00 per hour, with the ability to work thirty (30) hours maximum per week. The 2025-2026 season program runs from September 8, 2025, through April 24, 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with daily cash consolidation for ticketing and events.
• Support the preparation of tax information for different entities and jurisdictions.
• Update Excel workbooks and summarize information, including insurance policies and sponsorship contracts.
• Assist the department with accounts payable entries.
• Contribute to actual vs. budget comparisons.
• Record routine cash transactions in the subledger and post batches to the general ledger.
• Reconcile and process team travel invoices and media travel invoices, while tracking and updating the travel allocations and budget to actual comparisons
• Perform other duties as assigned such as copying, filing, and basic data entry.
• Participate in the full internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadowing and working on an intern project.

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

• Pursuing a degree in Finance or a related field (preferred).

• Male collegiate basketball players must have exhausted their NCAA eligibility before participating in the HSE internship program.

• Demonstrate attention to detail and strong organizational skills for success.
• Possess strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with clearly defined goals and objectives.
