Position Overview
Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is seeking an intern for the IT department. The IT Intern will support all departments throughout the HSE in the various areas of IT.
This is a paid internship. Interns will be paid $15.00 per hour, with the ability to work thirty (30) hours max per week. The 2025-2026 season program runs from September 8, 2025, through April 24, 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate problems and solutions both verbally and in writing to customers and management.
- Plan effectively to complete tasks on schedule and clearly document results.
- Provide end user support to an internal client base of 100 users.
- Log and track calls using problem management database and maintains history records and related problem documentation.
- Troubleshoot and maintain network-related issues.
- Manage computer inventory.
- Participate in the full internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadow opportunities and work closely with fellow interns to successfully complete and present the intern project.
Required Skills, Experience and Abilities
To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Completed degree or in pursuit of a Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related degree is preferred.
- Male collegiate basketball players must have exhausted their NCAA eligibility before participating in the HSE internship program.
- Be organized, self-starting and committed to the sports industry.
- Any IT experience working for a team, athletic department or with a sporting event is beneficial.
- Validated knowledge of system design, development and implementation procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug hardware and software applications, identify hardware deficiencies and report findings.
- Male collegiate basketball players must have exhausted their NCAA eligibility before participating in the HSE internship program.
- Possess a full understanding of PC architecture, PC support, Server support, Microsoft Windows 2019 Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365, Windows 10/11, Office 2019 and Anti-Virus tools.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Possess a solid ability to manage one’s own time and prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information.
- Flexible and reliable member of the team, both within own department and the company.
- Ability to thrive in a deadline driven environment.
- Present self in professional manner and can communicate effectively with all levels of organization and outside contacts.
- Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays and Hornets home games and Spectrum Center events.
