Position Overview
Hornets Sports and Entertainment (HSE) is seeking an Arena Marketing Intern who is self-driven, creative and an innovative thinker. This position collaborates in a cross-functional environment to conduct market research, assists the Arena Marketing, Manager with promotions and activation strategies for the arena and develops content for various social media platforms.
The Arena Marketing Intern rotates throughout the department in areas of administrative coordination, event management, arena booking and arena marketing. Hours will include most arena events and Hornets games during evenings and weekends.
This is a paid internship. Interns will be paid $15.00 per hour, with the ability to work thirty (30) hours maximum per week. The 2025-2026 season program runs from September 8, 2025, through April 24, 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Aid in daily operations of the Arena Marketing Department.Assist with pre-event and event day operations associated with all Spectrum Center events’, artist activations execution and media management.Support event marketing activations, including planning, implementation, execution and tracking.Conduct market research and generate reports to increase sales and brand awareness.Develop creative content for social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook and X.Research competitive market schedules aligned with or in comparison to upcoming events.Develop Marketing Recap reporting requirements to determine ROI and overall effectiveness of arena marketing campaigns.Assist heavily in the recap process for all events, i.e., collecting all ticketing, social, email and promotional data.Support hospitality needs for clients and executives.Participate in the full internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadowing, and working on an intern project.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities
To be successful in this position, candidates should demonstrate the following competencies :
Passion for the Entertainment Industry and an understanding of Event Operations, Event Planning, Marketing and Public Relations.High School Diploma required.Male collegiate basketball players must have exhausted their NCAA eligibility before participating in the HSE internship program.Experience / education in Sport Management / Administration or related experience preferred.Strong understanding of marketing, digital media, advertising and promotions.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present an idea clearly and persuasively.Proven ability to engage and interact professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization and external contacts.Strong time management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize when given clear objectives and deadlines.Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate discretion when handling sensitive information.Excellent teamwork skills, coupled with the ability to independently manage individual projects.Adaptability and reliability, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Professional presentation and strong interpersonal skills, for effective interaction with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.Creative problem-solving abilities, with a focus on organization and strategic thinking.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Teams.
