What are the core responsibilities for the role?
- Develop and execute strategic communications and outreach plans in local and outside markets
- Manage projects and/or public engagements phases of projects, including scope, schedule, budget, profitability and invoicing
- Manage project communication strategy and key messaging
- Manage distribute content for public information materials, including flyers, door handers, websites, newsletters, mass and social media, presentations, exhibit boards, maps, etc.
- Plan, execute and facilitate special events including public meetings and hearings, open houses, community working groups, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, and project tours
- Work with in-house graphic design team to create print and digital collateral
- Manage media relations on projects, including press releases, media briefings and events, and media pitching
- Manage public email and hotline accounts including responding to inquiries as needed
- Support business objectives including client relations and new business pursuits
- Participate team meetings with state and practice staff
- Mentor and manage Public Engagement Specialists and Coordinators as the group grows
- Six or more years of professional experience in a similar industry
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Marketing, etc. is a plus
- Experience in public/media relations and/or community engagement/public involvement strategies is a plus
- Must possess the ability to work and collaborate with team members, clients, and the public
- Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; Microsoft SharePoint and Teams and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
- Exceptional writing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills
- Proactive, resourceful, self-starter
