Salary Range: $85,000-$110,000 annually, depending on experience
Unmatched Comp Time Policy: Hours worked over 40 in a week can be reimbursed as additional pay at an equivalent hourly rate or banked as additional PTO.

We are seeking an individual to join our growing planning team and fill a Transportation Planner II, III, or Senior Planner position and help lead some unique and fulfilling transit and multimodal transportation planning efforts. We provide transportation planning services for a wide variety of clients, from state DOT’s, transit agencies, MPO’s, and cities both in Utah and throughout the intermountain west. Although being located in Utah is preferred as our planning team is based out of Cottonwood Heights, we are happy to explore opportunities with the right candidate in other regions where Horrocks does business, or even fully remove work.
Responsibilities, Expectations, and Duties:
We work on a diversity of projects, plans, and studies at both the macro and micro levels. There are opportunities to develop new skillsets, and advance existing ones.
- The right candidate would have some project management experience, and lead transit and transportation planning efforts
- Manage a wide variety of planning studies that may including active transportation plans, transit alignment and mode analyses, ADA accessibility assessments, park and rides, first/last mile connections, corridor plans, as well as coordinate on rural, tribal, and small urban transportation and transit system plans
- Support our team with recommendations for a variety of transportation or transit planning efforts including master planning, active transportation planning, local area and corridor plans, service planning, transit infrastructure, and other related plans or policies
- Analyze transportation, land use, transit, and economic data to provide metrics, measures of success, and planning recommendations
- Prepare well-written technical deliverables for our clients and the public
- Support our Public Involvement team with virtual and in-person public and stakeholder outreach
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
It is expected that applying candidates will meet some of these qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in urban planning, or a closely related field (Master's Degree preferred)
- 3-6 years of relevant experience preferred
- Experience working for or with public transit and other public agencies is desired
- Be able to work successfully independently and collaboratively on multiple projects simultaneously
- Have experience in research, Geographic Information Services, data collection and analysis, statistics and the use of spreadsheets/databases, and data visualization
- Be a strong technical writer
- Have a level of comfort in the preparation of charts, graphics, and other visuals for inclusion in planning documents and presentation materials
- Effectively communicate technical information to audiences orally and in writing
- Work effectively and collaborate with agency staff, public officials, community stakeholders, internal teams, and the public

- Midvale Station Area Plan – Horrocks planning staff are on a team collecting transit, traffic, and active transportation data, and recommending on a suite of multimodal connections for two transit station areas located in Midvale City.
