Examples of supports provided:
- Listens to those receiving services and supports them in the areas that are important to them, demonstrating respect & dignity.
- Supports those receiving services to develop/refine identified skills for them to live with optimal independence in the community by assuring effective implementation and documentation of their plans.
- Assists those receiving services to enhance their exposure to a variety of community activities, services, events, etc., by assuring coordination/facilitation of community access/participation.
- Supports those receiving services to develop relationships in the community to assure an ongoing support network.
- Routinely supports those receiving services to exercise their rights and, when necessary, advocates for the protection of their rights.
- Assures those receiving services are assisted to take prescribed medications, based on their abilities, while also assuring medications and administration records are maintained according to guidelines/standards.
- Supports those receiving services to have the best possible health.
- Assists those receiving services to manage their finances (i.e., checking accounts and cash-on-hand), based on their abilities, assuring management and records are maintained according to guidelines/standards.
- To assure continuing and on-going supports for those receiving services, assures all documentation regarding training, care, finances and medication administration is maintained as required. Maintains HIPAA compliance when accessing/transmitting electronic Personal Health Information (ePHI).
- To assure those receiving services have consistent support to meet their needs, effectively provides support and supervision for the support advocates working in the homes.
- Assures completion of Performance Evaluations that effectively develop those supervised.
- Provides on-going support, guidance, and coaching for the support advocates working in the homes.
- Assures the support advocates working in the homes receive necessary training/re-certifications.
- Assures the supervision plan of each person receiving services can be consistently followed by ensuring appropriate management of Support Advocate schedules, maintaining adequate staff coverage while minimizing overtime & over budget costs.
- So that those receiving services live in a safe environment, assures the home/physical environment is appropriately maintained and is free of safety hazards.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with those receiving services, their families/support network, and co-workers.
- Supports those receiving services that have adaptive equipment (e.g., wheelchair, hearing aid, C-PAP machine, etc.) by assuring the equipment is available, in good repair and used as scheduled/appropriate.
- Assures those receiving services receive the assistance/supports necessary to maintain their living environments in a, clean, and organized manner.
- To be available to those receiving services, and those supporting them, carries an agency cell phone to address emergencies/concerns when called (24-hours).
- Provides other supports as assigned by supervisor(s).

Minimum Requirements:
- Individual must possess a high school diploma or GED, previous work experience in similar programs, a valid South Carolina driver’s license with a good driving record, and complete pre-employment training.
Compensation & Benefits
- $17.95 per hour worked.
- Paid Vacation, Paid Sick, and 13 Paid Holidays. Accrual of paid time off and paid holidays begins after the employee's 31st day of full-time employment. The accrual amount for Annual and Sick Leave increases with years of service. Within a full-time employee's first year, two weeks of annual leave and one week of sick leave accrues.
- Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance coverage is available through the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority. Coverages offered for Employee Only, Employee and Spouse, Employee and Child(ren), and Full Family. A list of premiums is available through the Human Resources Department.
- All full-time employees are required to participate in the State Retirement Systems Pension Program. The current percentage contribution is 9% per pay period. The South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority also offers 401k plans.
