What are the responsibilities and job description for the Storytime Performer (Summer 2025) position at Horseshoe Bend Regional Library?
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced storytime performer to travel to childcare facilities and public libraries throughout Lee County, AL presenting stories, songs and educational enrichment activities for ages 0-5 years. Storytime Performers will be employed as independent contractors under the direction of the Horseshoe Bend Regional Library, receiving $2,500 plus mileage for the term of service (June-July 2025).
Duties:
- Deliver captivating storytime performances that entertain and educate.
- Engage with children during educational programs, creating a fun and interactive learning environment.
- Adapt performances based on audience feedback and engagement levels.
Experience:
- Background in working with children is highly desirable; experience in educational settings is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to various performance styles.
Qualifications:
Required
- Valid driver’s license in good standing (CDL not required).
- Acceptable background check.
- Ability to complete forms and maintain accurate records.
Preferred
- One or more years of public library, early childhood education or equivalent experience.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Compensation: $2,500 mileage
- Monday-Friday (Saturday as needed)
