What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caring Companion position at Horsham Center for Jewish Life?
We are seeking compassionate and attentive individuals to join our team as Caring Companions. In this role, you will provide direct companionship and support to residents in our Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). The primary goal is to ensure the resident’s safety, comfort, and well-being while offering emotional support and reassurance.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide constant supervision and companionship to an assigned resident.
Ensure the resident’s safety by preventing falls, wandering, or other risky behaviors.
Offer emotional support and engage in conversation or activities as appropriate for the resident’s comfort.
Assist with non-clinical tasks, such as helping the resident eat or drink, under the guidance of nursing staff.
Communicate any changes in the resident’s condition or behavior to the nursing team promptly.
Maintain a calm, patient, and caring demeanor while addressing the resident’s needs.
Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, including infection control and resident privacy regulations.
Qualifications:
Compassionate, patient, and dependable, with a genuine interest in working with elderly or disabled individuals.
Prior experience in a healthcare setting or as a home health aide or caregiver is preferred.
Strong communication skills and the ability to respond to resident needs promptly.
Ability to follow directions and work under the supervision of nursing staff.
HHA or DSP experience
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods.
Capable of assisting with light physical tasks, such as guiding a resident in a wheelchair or helping them eat or drink.
