Seeking special education paraprofessionals who are eager to improve the lives of children!
To begin: As soon as possible
This position is part time and roughly 5.75 hours/day.
Reports to: Designated special education teacher; however, the specific responsibilities may be assigned by the Building Principal or Director of Pupil Services.
Qualifications
- High School diploma. (Two years post-secondary education preferred.)
- DPI certification as Special Education Program Aide current teacher license
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrate the ability to be flexible in order to meet the changing needs of students within the least restrictive environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with children in the least restrictive environment.
- Must be able to work as a team with educational staff.
- Knowledge of basic sanitation and housekeeping procedures and good personal hygiene habits.
- Must be able to work and organize in a timely manner.
- Must be able to bend and twist and lift supplies, equipment and students weighing 50 pounds.
- Must have the stamina and ability to work and stand for long periods of time.
- Must have or be willing to have the necessary training to service assigned students. Training may be basic behavioral and health needs.
- Must maintain required training to meet behavioral and health needs of students as deemed necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as behavioral and academic supervisor of special education.
- Provides academic, behavioral and life instruction to special education students.
- Provides support to students maintaining the least restrictive environment(s).
- Assist students with self-care.
- Complete clerical duties and maintenance of classroom records as assigned by the special education teacher.
- Work under the supervision of the teacher to assist in preparation of classroom for specific learning experiences.
- Provide physical and medical support according to, but not limited to, the IEP plan. This may include: Lifting and/or positioning, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and other procedures deemed necessary.
- Attendance at meetings and trainings like Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, CPR/AED and others as assigned.
Performance Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually, prior to the end of third quarter, by an administrator with input from the supervising teacher(s).
Employment: Nine Month
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.66 per hour
Schedule:
