What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Shop Manager/Foreman position at Horwith Freightliner?
Horwith Freightliner, a Lehigh Valley based Freightliner & Western Star dealership has an immediate opening for an experienced Heavy-Duty Truck Service Advisor/Writer at our Northampton, PA facility. This is a Full time Monday - Friday 3:00 PM - 11:30 0PM position.
The Service Advisor/Manager position serves as a supervisory role within the service department. The role is to manage the flow of work and accuracy of repairs that have been guided by the shop foreman and performed by the working Technician. This is a leadership position for the “business side” of the shop. Primarily the administrative side of the repair process.
Essential Duties
- Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assign and Dispatch repair orders to a qualified technician.
- Ensure the Express Assessment Process is being followed properly.
- Qualifies repair orders in terms of repair length and if it qualifies for Rapid Repair Process
- Qualifies Primary Failed Part for warranty
- Confirmed by supervisor until notified otherwise
- Runs warranty coverage against PFP in OWL and prints time stamped result.
- Checks availability of parts with the parts department.
- Works with Estimator and Foreman to accurately plan customer pay repair time and assist in accurate quotes.
- Contacts customer for Rapid Repair authorization (4 hours or less)
- Works and communicates directly with the Shop Foreman to forecast technicians next job, day to day shop operations, and shop inventory IE. Tooling, consumables, etc.
- Reviews technician stories to ensure repairs are accurate
- Reviews warranty RO’s to ensure all documented serial numbers, pictures and other necessary information is complete.
- Calls in CSC cases in regards to third party vendors such as but not limited to Cummins, Eaton, Wabco, Meritor, Bendix, Detroit Diesel, and DTNA-FCCC
- Performs lot walks each day
- Creates schedule for shop for each day
- As repair orders come back through the shop, the Service Shop Supervisor updates the throughput tracking and closes the Express Assessment via Uptime Pro with accurate notes and reasons if timeline is missed.

Qualifications:
- Heavy duty truck mechanical knowledge (benefit, not necessary)
- Excellent communication skills, phone and email.
- Organized, efficient and customer service driven
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision
- Dependability in attendance
- Must be able to pass drug test
