Sales/Service Technician

Summary

The Sales/Service Technician plays an important role within our company by generating sales. You are the “face of the company” by providing high-quality advice and service. You will be interacting with customers on a daily basis to solve problems, make recommendations and save them money. The selected candidate must have strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills and communicate well. In addition, this person should be responsible, self-motivated and career-orientated.

Overview of Responsibilities:

• Support the sales of HOSCH products in a defined geographical area according to company philosophy.

• Perform installations, maintenance and repairs on belt scrapers and related equipment.

• Demonstrate the technical performance of HOSCH equipment through proper selection, installation and maintenance.

• Make technical recommendations to improve the operation of conveyor systems.

• Communicate with supervisor on regular basis and HOSCH office personnel.

• Submit or communicate accurate weekly time sheets by the end of your workweek.

• Prepare and submit all paperwork and information required to process sales orders.

• Submit accurate and timely service documentation and maintenance information.

• Submit accurate and timely work schedules and expense reports.

• Adhere strictly to all company policies and procedures.

• Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Educational Requirements and Work Experience:

• High School Diploma required and post-secondary education desired.

• Will we provide MSHA Part 48 surface operations and Part 46

• Valid Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record. We provide company vehicle.

• Ability to proficiently use, or learn to use, a laptop computer including Microsoft Office programs.

• Must be able to read a tape-measure, add/subtract fractions and operate standard power tools and equipment.

• Must be able to pass routine and random drug / alcohol screenings.

• Proven mechanical skills. Must be able to Weld/Torch Cutting.

• Previous experience working on conveyor equipment is highly desired.

• Travel Demand: Routine daily travel to customers in assigned territories and some additional overnight travel for work or activities such as: out-of-town work, out-of-town meetings or training sessions.

Work Environment

The working environment takes place at copper mines, rock crushing, cement production, coal-fired power-stations and similar types of operations. The job is within a heavy industrial environment and the conditions can be dirty, greasy, noisy and require walking long distances along conveyor catwalks. Jobs can also take place at heights depending on location, you may have to work out of a man-lift. The work-week is typically days Monday-Friday and there can be weekend or evening work depending on the situation.

Safety is our highest priority and safety-procedures/guidelines must be adhered to at all times. This includes wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as hard-hats, safety-goggles, hearing protection, protective clothing and work-boots with metatarsal protection. Punctuality, attendance and willingness to continually improve are extremely important to the success of the company as well as contributing to an overall positive team atmosphere.

• Physical Demands: Day-today activities include but not limited to: driving, sitting, walking, climbing, stretching, confined space, bending and reaching. Long hours are sometimes a demand and can be in excess of 12 hours, occurring during evenings nights and weekends. Working conditions are often located on tops of silos, storage bins and conveyors with heights up to and in some cases exceeding 200feet. Proper safety equipment is a prerequisite.

• Lifting Demands: Extreme lifting and carrying is required. Lifting demands can be up to150 lbs in certain situations and may need to be carried over 500 feet and at steep elevations in some instances.

• Normal or Corrected Vision and Hearing Required: Ability to see, hear and understand speech to interact with co-workers, clients, customers on a routine and frequent basis.

• Travel Demand: Routine travel to customers in assigned territories and occasional travel for work or activities such as: out-of-town work, out-of-town meetings or training sessions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
