Hosco Shift Inc. - Confluence Farms is dedicated to sustainable agriculture, community-supported agriculture (CSA), and providing fresh, locally grown produce to our community.
We are seeking dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our team as Farm Workers. This role is essential in maintaining the daily operations of our farm, ensuring the well-being of our livestock, supporting crop production, and assisting in community engagement efforts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a passion for agriculture, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Farm Operations & Crop Production
- Supervise daily farm activities and assist in managing farm operations
- Provide proper care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring their health
- Assist in planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops using sustainable agricultural practices
- Maintain soil health through weeding, composting, and proper irrigation management
- Operate and maintain farm tools, machinery, and irrigation systems
- Monitor crops for pests and diseases and assist in implementing control measures
- Maintain farm infrastructure, including fences, greenhouses, and storage facilities
Harvest, CSA & Distribution Support
- Assist in harvesting, washing, and packing produce for CSA shares and market sales
- Help with inventory management and preparation for produce distribution
- Ensure proper handling and storage of fresh produce to maintain quality standards
- Assist in coordinating CSA program logistics, including packaging and distribution
- Utilize basic math skills for measuring feed quantities and calculating supplies
Community Engagement & Volunteer Training
- Support farm-based community engagement initiatives and events
- Assist in training and mentoring volunteers and interns in farm operations
- Educate community members on sustainable farming practices and CSA benefits
- Participate in outreach efforts to strengthen connections with local organizations and customers
Equipment Maintenance & Safety
- Maintain farm equipment and machinery, ensuring they are in good working condition
- Perform basic repairs on equipment as needed to minimize downtime
- Operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently for various farming tasks
- Follow safety protocols and best practices to maintain a safe work environment
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in farming or agricultural roles is preferred but not mandatory
- Familiarity with animal husbandry practices is a plus
- Mechanical knowledge and experience with equipment repair are beneficial
- Experience operating farm machinery or heavy equipment is highly desirable
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic knowledge of sustainable farming practices is a plus
- Strong teamwork skills and a positive work ethic
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing farm needs
- Experience in community engagement or volunteer coordination is a plus
