Job Summary:
The Carpenter will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in building, installing, and repairing structures, frameworks, and fixtures. This individual will have experience in both rough and finished carpentry, be able to read and interpret blueprints, and work efficiently with a range of materials. Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to collaborate with other tradesmen and project managers are essential for success in this role. Duties/ Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of carpentry tasks, including framing, roofing, flooring, and drywall installation
Construct, install, and repair structures such as walls, partitions, and roofing systems
Build and install custom cabinetry, windows, doors, and other wood-based components
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and materials needed
Ensure that the dimensions, angles, and placements of components are accurately followed
Measure, cut, and shape wood, drywall, and other materials using saws, drills, and other hand or power tools
Inspect materials for defects and ensure that proper materials are used in each project
Install and finish woodwork such as baseboards, trim, and moldings
Apply finishing techniques such as sanding, staining, and painting to ensure a smooth and polished appearance
Follow safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe and clean work environment
Work closely with other tradespeople (electricians, plumbers, laborers) and project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality standards
Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and address any issues
Assist with site preparation, including measuring, marking, and laying out dimensions for construction projects
Provide support during inspections or when troubleshooting construction-related problems
Perform maintenance and repair work on existing structures, including fixing or replacing damaged woodwork, frames, and fittings
Ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and in accordance with building codes and specifications
Inspect finished work to ensure accuracy, precision, and overall craftsmanship
Maintain, clean, and inspect carpentry tools and equipment regularly to ensure proper functionality and longevity
Notify supervisors of any equipment malfunctions or issues that need addressing

Education/Certifications/Licenses
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Associate’s Degree in carpentry or construction management is a plus
Certifications
OSHA 10 or ability to obtain
Licenses

Experience
3-5 years of experience in carpentry including proficiency in various carpentry techniques (e.g., framing, finishing, cabinetry)
Hands-on experience with a variety of hand and power tools commonly used in carpentry, such as saws, drills, sanders, and nail guns, is essential
Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings is critical for accurately executing carpentry projects according to specifications
Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations is essential
Experience in ensuring that all work complies with legal and safety standards is a key requirement
Experience in a physically demanding role is beneficial, as carpentry often requires lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions
Experience working in a team environment on construction projects, collaborating with other tradespeople, and communicating effectively with supervisors and clients
Required Skills/Abilities
Proficiency in various carpentry techniques, including framing, finishing, cabinetry, and drywall installation
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to accurately execute projects

Good physical condition and stamina for performing manual labor, including lifting heavy materials, climbing, and standing for long periods
Knowledge of safety practices and regulations in construction environments to ensure a safe working atmosphere for oneself and others
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and maintain productivity on the job site
Effective verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and clients
Ability to work well as part of a team, coordinating efforts with other tradespeople and construction staff to ensure successful project completion
Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements, timelines, and work conditions
