Job Summary:
The Infusion Service Line Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the infusion therapy department within the medical clinic. This role ensures the highest standards of patient care, compliance with regulatory requirements, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability of the infusion services. The manager will collaborate with medical staff, nursing teams, and administrative personnel to optimize workflow, enhance patient satisfaction, and drive continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the infusion service line, ensuring seamless patient flow and high-quality care.
- Develop and implement protocols, policies, and procedures in line with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor inventory levels of infusion medications and supplies, ensuring cost-effective procurement and usage.
- Collaborate with the scheduling team to optimize patient appointments and staff allocation.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce wait times.
Clinical Oversight & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, including OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards.
- Work with nursing staff and providers to maintain evidence-based best practices for infusion therapies.
- Monitor patient safety protocols and respond to adverse events or incidents with appropriate corrective actions.
- Conduct staff training and education on updated clinical guidelines and safety protocols.
Financial & Budgetary Management:
- Develop and manage the budget for the infusion service line, tracking revenue, expenses, and financial performance.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining high-quality patient care.
- Oversee billing and coding processes to ensure accurate reimbursement and compliance with insurance guidelines.
- Work with finance and administration to analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and improve profitability.
Leadership & Staff Management:
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate infusion nursing and support staff.
- Foster a collaborative and patient-centered work culture.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to support professional growth.
- Recruit, hire, and train new staff as needed to meet patient demand.
Patient Experience & Quality Improvement:
- Ensure a compassionate and efficient patient experience, addressing concerns and improving service delivery.
- Monitor patient satisfaction surveys and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
- Lead quality assurance initiatives, track patient outcomes, and implement evidence-based practice improvements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN), Healthcare Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Active RN license preferred if clinical supervision is required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in infusion therapy, oncology, or ambulatory care.
- Previous leadership or management experience in a healthcare setting required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of infusion therapies, including biologics, chemotherapy, and IV medications.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and infusion documentation systems.
- Strong financial and operational acumen, with experience in budgeting and revenue cycle management.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining a high standard of care.
