Description
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are processed accurately, in a timely manner, and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management, the board of directors, and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard the assets of the organizations.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, including the monitoring of actual spend against budget.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide timely financial insights to support decision-making.
- Lead the preparation for annual audits and liaise with external auditors as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports, Advise management of actions and potential risks.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Optimize the handling of banking relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions.
- Implement and maintain systems and software to automate and enhance financial operations.
- Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team, ensuring professional development and high performance.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Master’s degree and/or CPA strongly preferred.
CERTIFICATONS:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years of Finance or related financial roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in healthcare or hospice industry preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational skills, and decision-making skills.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial processes, and relevant regulations.
- Proficient in financial software, databases, and spreadsheet applications.
- Attentional to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reporting.
