What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospice House Food Service Specialist position at HOSPICE OF LAKE & SUMTER?
Description: Responsible for the planning, buying, preparation and serving of meals at the Hospice House.
Locations: Orlando, Clermont, Ocoee (minimal)
Hours - Mon - Fri 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
JOB DUTIES/KNOWLEDGE - Plans meals with high quality nutritional content for patients in collaboration with the nursing staff to ensure food content according to dietary medical orders.
- Plan for the availability of three meals plus snacks every day with the ability to have light meals and snacks at times requested by patients, ensuring as much patient choice as possible. Menu rotation.
- Conduct food inventory on a regular basis.
- Buy necessary food as economically as possible.
- Ensure safe, efficient food preparation and storage according to public health regulations and hospice house policy.
- Ensure food served from kitchen to patient room stays at proper temperatures according to regulations.
- Ensure food served to patients in isolation follows policy and procedures for isolation.
- Ensure trays, dishware and cooking utensils are sterilized according to regulations.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is in proper working order.
- Provide ongoing teaching, formal in-services, and support to food service volunteers and hospice house staff.
- Other duties as deemed necessary.
Qualifications: Must have a minimum of one year food planning experience. Experience in health care setting and/or nutritionist preferred. Must have a valid Florida drivers license and reliable transportation.
