Qualification Requirements
- Holds a current professional license in nursing; registered nurse preferred. Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care preferred, or willing to obtain within 1 year.
- Previous experience providing hospice care preferred.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, presentation skills, critical thinking, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Demonstrates strong organizational, time management and project management skills; can work independently and collaboratively and is able to meet multiple deadlines.
- Must have experience using an EMR.
- Must be able to work any shift to meet the education needs of all employees, all shifts.
- Understands hospice philosophy, principles of death/dying, concepts of pain/symptom management and adult teaching-learning principles.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- As a member of the Education team, provides initial and continuing education on various clinical topics; assists with orientation skills check-off, annual skills sprees, and other annual competencies as required.
- Utilizing the knowledge and skills of nursing practice, works with subject matter experts to create and deliver course content; evaluates educational programs regularly.
- May assist with managing the content, assignments, and completion of required annual education for both clinical and non-clinical staff.
- May assist with ensuring content in all online learning systems are updated and relevant to HNO clinical policies and processes.
- Provides training and technical support to users who interact with the learning management system – both employees and volunteers.
- May assist with maintaining educational records for employees throughout the agency and reports accurately as requested and/or required. Assigns training curricula, adds and/or deletes resources, monitors accounts, resets passwords, and maintains system parameters.
- Creates, edits, and maintains learning content within the LMS software utilizing software programs including but not limited to screen capture, video editing, HTML editing, video transcoding, Microsoft Office: Word, Power Point and Excel.
- Attends training and user group meetings as needed to keep current with the e-learning system technology and capabilities; works with the vendor to coordinate upgrades and testing of system functionality.
- Meets state requirements for maintaining professional license. Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development. Maintains and updates professional knowledge and practice skills through attendance and participation in continuing education and in-service classes.
- Responsible for meeting standards set by Joint Commission and other external organizations, as well as standards set internally by administration and others that relate to this position.
- Responsible for learning and utilizing technology made available by the agency to increase efficiency, communication, and performance of duties.
- Actively participates in hospice quality improvement program, including opportunities for improvement, problem identification, problem solving and implementation of recommendations as requested.
- Attends staff meetings and completes all mandatory training.
- Holds in strictest confidence all patient information and discloses information and data only to persons authorized by Hospice.
- Maintains confidentiality related to staff performance issues.
