Description
Hospice of the Piedmont is seeking a full-time Senior Staff Accountant to serve our community with world class hospice care by providing excellent accounting services in the finance department to provide accurate accounting records for reporting and analysis. Will assist the CFO and the Controller in providing various accounting services.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- BS/BA Degree in Accounting, required
- Five or more years relevant experience, preferably in non-profit hospice
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Experience with accounting and various software programs
- Proficiency in MS Office software required
- Experience in the healthcare industry preferred
- Experience in healthcare Electronic Medical Records a plus.
- Must demonstrate basic computer skills.
Responsibilities/General Duties (Including but not limited to):
- Responsible for preparing journal entries to record various finance functions.
- Assists with developing monthly financial statements and reports. Financial statements include but are not limited to balance sheet and profit/loss statements.
- Prepares monthly departmental budget reports.
- Assists with effective budgeting meetings and coordination.
- Reconciles cash accounts.
- Assists with the annual financial and 403b audits as needed.
- Tracks and coordinates contracts and requests for proposals as needed.
- Communicates with vendors and/or outside suppliers.
- Provides analysis of various accounting accounts.
- Prepares and reports on analytical projects as directed.
- Assists with payroll, accounts payable and/or billing as needed.
- Provide effective communication and translation of numbers into information
- Assists and/or prepare monthly closing general ledger entries
- Prepare related journal entries for investments
- Ensure that all general ledger accounts are reconciled to subsidiary records monthly
- Reconciles fixed assets on the general ledger to actual on hand via yearly inventory.
- Assists with preparation of power point slides for reporting purposes.
- Prepare information to clinical team, as needed for effective decision making.
- Assists with the preparation and gathering of information for the 990 tax return, the Medicare Cost report and any other tax or compliance reporting needed
- Visits HOP facilities and locations to perform accounting functions
- Provides general office functions as needed
