SUMMARY: The Handyperson will play an essential role in Hospice Savannah Inc’s (HSI) Community Aging in Place—Advancing Better Living for Elders (CAPABLE) program by performing home repairs and modifications to improve safety, accessibility, and functionality for underserved, under-resourced older adults. The Handyperson will conduct thorough home assessments to identify necessary work and serve as part of an inter-professional team with the CAPABLE Occupational Therapist/Program Manager and CAPABLE Registered Nurse. The team works collaboratively to implement modifications tailored to each participant's needs.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Proven experience as a handyperson (e.g., general home repair, carpentry). Proficiency in using hand and power tools. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Ability to complete physically demanding tasks. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. PREFERRED: Experience with residential or commercial property maintenance with basic knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and ADA guidelines. Familiarity with accessibility modifications for older adults or individuals with mobility limitations, including Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) certification. Experience working with older adults or in a similar caregiving role.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires the ability to lift in excess of 75 lbs. Must be able to walk, stand, climb, kneel, reach, crawl, push, pull and twist the majority of the workday. While performing tasks in patient care areas there may be a risk of exposure to infectious diseases requiring standard safety precautions.
