Summary

Performs radiation measurements on the linear accelerators and radioactive sources, analyzes the data, verifies dosimetry calculations done by the therapists and dosimetrists, develops patient treatment plans for patients of all ages, assists in radiation treatment and radiation safety, and performs diagnostic quality assurance procedures. Works effectively with technologists and physicians. Provides services to patients and families of all age groups, neonate through geriatric.


Qualifications

Education

Master’s in physics or Medical Physics is required.Ph.D. in Medical Physics is preferred

 

Experience

Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP) accredited Medical Physics graduate program and residency (i.e., 2 years of clinical experience) has been completed

 

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

Candidates must be approved to take American Board of Radiology (ABR) Part 2 in Therapeutic Medical Physics and be considered “board eligible” as defined by the ABR

Candidates must achieve full ABR certification within 6 years of becoming board eligible
