HSS is currently seeking a Director of Training for our Outsourcing properties; this position will be onboarding staff through out our national operations and will require 80% travel.
Job Overview
The Director of Training plays a vital role in ensuring the company adheres to all compliance standards and meets customer service expectations. Key responsibilities include recording inspection results, addressing customer complaints, and onboarding new employees.
To excel in this role, the Director of Training must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The role requires sound decision-making, good judgment, and excellent communication skills. Proficiency in software programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word is preferred.
As the Director of Training, you will design and oversee all learning and development programs. Your duties will include identifying training needs through skills gap analysis, developing group and individual learning courses, and ultimately enhancing employee skills to improve work quality, productivity, and retention. Familiarity with housekeeping standards and current practices is also expected.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Train and uphold the brand standards of the assigned hotel (optional based on property).
- Lead daily morning meetings.
- Conduct orientations for new hires, accommodating up to 15 individuals.
- Train both new and current employees in standard processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Account Supervisor to manage employee schedules.
- Oversee daily inspection processes for Guest Room Attendants.
- Report any disciplinary issues to the Account Manager.
- (Optional) Manage key control based on property requirements.
- Ensure all HSS staff adhere to safety, security, and behavior policies set by the hotel.
- Maintain accuracy in timesheets, signing logs, and clock-in/out records.
- Use performance reviews and skills gap analysis to identify training needs at the department, team, and individual levels.
- Develop career plans and training programs aligned with business goals.
- Oversee learning activities, curriculum development, and resource allocation.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training courses.
- Implement coaching sessions and mentorship programs to foster a culture of continuous learning.
- Recommend new training methods, including e-learning courses.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a, Director of Training, Training Manager, or similar role in the hospitality industry.
- Deep understanding of traditional and modern training methods, including workshops, simulations, e-learning, and coaching.
- Experience in organizing training activities in a corporate setting.
- Hands-on experience with project management and budgeting.
- Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- A degree or experience in Learning and Development, Organizational Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
