Join Our Team as an Area Sales Coordinator at HI USA!
Are you passionate about travel and creating seamless group experiences? Hostelling International USA is seeking an organized and energetic Area Sales Coordinator to support sales efforts for our California hostels. Based on-site, you'll liaise between Area Sales Managers, group clients, and hostel teams—ensuring smooth reservations, setting expectations, and supporting an outstanding stay. This role also handles administrative tasks and reporting for up to seven of our California properties, all while advancing HI USA’s mission of cultural exchange, sustainability, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Position Details:
Pay: $23.00 - $27.50 per hour, DOE
Type: Full-time, benefit-eligible
Location: San Francisco, On-site
Schedule: Monday – Friday (very occasionally evenings and weekends as schedule requires)

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Area Sales Manager to support sales efforts for up to 7 California properties
- Liaise with group clients and Hostel Managers after the contracting phase to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Educate clients about hostelling, assess group needs, set expectations, and ensure a memorable stay.
- Promptly respond to group inquiries, ensuring excellent service.
- Manage group bookings, including rooming lists, arrival details, travel schedules, and special needs (e.g., ADA access, dietary requirements).
- Conduct or facilitate site tours as needed.
- Maintain accurate client files, including signed contracts and hostel confirmations.
- Assist with post-stay communications to gather feedback and reviews.
- Support multi-series and national account bookings by tracking and ensuring accurate details in the system.
- Compile and report monthly sales data.
- Foster collaboration between the Sales Manager and hostel staff.
Skills/Qualifications:
- 1-2 years’ experience in a sales and/or hospitality environment.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong proofreading skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse personalities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Delphi or Salesforce is a plus.
- Passion for travel and familiarity with hostels, particularly HI USA’s mission and values.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and arms.
- Frequently required to talk, hear, and interact with clients and team members.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
