What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreational Gymnastics Instructor position at Hot Springs Gymnastics?
We are looking for Just the right Candidate to join our Awesome Team!
Hot Springs Gymnastics' mission is to provide a fun, motivating, and positive environment through the sport of gymnastics. We do this every day by instilling those values in everything we do and teach.
Applications without a personalized Cover Letter for the position, introducing yourself and your qualifications for the positions, will not be responded to. We believe taking the time to create a cover letter shows that you are the type of person to take initiative and care about the position.
We are hiring for a Recreational Gymnastics Coach with experience coaching some kind of sport, preferably gymnastics but not required. This person must have a love for Coaching and a Passion for Gymnastics.
What is Gymnastics? Gymnastics is a super fun, recreational sport that focuses on learning different skills on uneven bars, balance beam, vault, and floor. Flexibility and strength are also incorporated into this sport. On top of gymnastics, our program also focuses on life skills, incorporating words of the month and power chats into our classes. We start gymnastics at age 2 in our preschool program, however this position we are hiring for is 1st graders and up. Our program is broken down to 6 different levels, starting with very basic skills all the way to upper level skills. Most classes are 55 minutes, although some of our upper levels are longer. This gives the athletes time to do a quick warm up and stretch, and spend 15 minutes on 3 of the 4 gymnastics events, alternating between beam and vault each week.
What does the job intel?
Coaches are expected to arrive 15 minutes before their first class, allowing time on the clock to prepare for their classes for the day by watching the lesson plans, setting up their equipment, and writing down their timing schedule for the day.
Coaches typically coach 3-5 classes during a shift. During class, our lesson plans and learning objectives are implemented. Coaches are expected to track attendance and skill achievement for each class on tablets provided.
At the end of the shift, coaches are expected to put away equipment used for the day, and complete the closing duty they are assigned for the day, in accordance with our schedule.
Coaches are expected to provide power chats (a narrative to follow is provided) in class and insight motivation for their athletes, during class time, while making it fun for them.
Coaches are expected to speak to parents before and after classes about their child’s progress in the class.
Coaches are expecting to sign up for two weekend days per month to work birthday parties. These are super fun, and we give a bonus for each party worked!
What are the hours?
This position is listed as part time, but has the potential to grow into more for the right candidate who shows real initiative and willingness to work hard and learn!
We are really good about working around peoples availability, as long as it is consistent.
Our hours of operation for classes are Monday-Friday from 3:30 to 8:00. Saturday morning we are open from 9-12. We are not looking for someone to work all of these shifts, however there is always potential for growth for the right candidate. There is also potential to get extra hours working Birthday Parties and Parent’s Night Out.
How much is the pay?
This is dependent upon experience and is negotiable.
What are the qualifications?
Ultimately, we need our employees to actually care. Care about their job, the children they are coaching, the clients they are dealing with and our Hot Springs Gymnastic community, as a whole. We have high standards for our staff and expect them to meet those standards and in return, you will find an amazing working community and an organization that will care for you and your well being as part of that community.
