What are the responsibilities and job description for the Banquet Server position at Hotel Covington?
Banquet Server
Principal responsibility is to provide friendly, attentive, and timely service to create an exceptional experience for all guests for contracted events at The Madison Event Center and Hotel Covington.
Duties:
- Remain guest focused while performing all assigned duties before, during and after an event
- Assume 100% responsibility for the quality of each guest experience
- Welcome and greet guests upon entering The Madison/Hotel Covington
- Provide information about our food, beverages and other functions and services
- Perform side work during each shift as assigned by Banquet Captain
- Maintain clean and fully stocked prep area, restrooms and ballroom
- Ready and willing to assist other team members with event duties
- Handle tables, chairs, linens, tableware and décor carefully to prevent breakage and loss
- Always follow safe food handling guidelines
- Clean and reset ballroom at the end of every event
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and provides suggestions for improvement
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Positive and upbeat attitude and work well with all team members
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be able to work weekends until 3:00 AM
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Punctual
- Energetic and motivated personality
- Excellent oral communication and listening skills
- Ability to follow directions
- Be willing to work until the job is complete and perform other duties assigned
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours)
- Be able to reach, bend, and safely lift and maneuver up to 30 pounds and move up to 100 pounds with assistance
Uniform Requirements:
- Black pants and long sleeve black shirt
- Black non-slip shoes with black socks
- Additional details outlined in Uniform Policy
Compensation & Schedule:
- $14 hourly with potential for increase after training is complete (within 4 weeks)
- Part-time, hours will vary depending on events scheduled
- Eligible for annual review and merit
