Job Title: Hotel General Manager
Location: Jaco, Costa Rica
Job Type: Full-Time, 6-8 months initial terms with possibility to extend to a 12 month or longer contract of employment
Experience: Minimum 10 years as a GM and must have managed a full-service hotel
Salary: Competitive, based on experience $45K up to $60K USD for the initial terms
Housing: 1 month stay provided by the hotel on property to allow some time to find permanent lodging (average housing $750-$1100 can provide reputable realtor contact)
Language: Spanish speaking is mandatory, as first language is preferred

Job Description:
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall success of the property and assisting head of operations. This includes overseeing staff, ensuring guest satisfaction, managing budgets, and maintaining high standards in all departments. You will lead with integrity, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily hotel operations across all departments (front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, food & beverage, etc.)
- Ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction through exceptional service and problem resolution
- Recruit, train, manage, and motivate a diverse hotel staff
- Monitor financial performance, prepare budgets, control costs, and maximize profitability
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal standards
- Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies to drive occupancy and revenue
- Collaborate with ownership/management company to meet long-term goals
- Handle guest concerns promptly and professionally
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and employees
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality assurance across all areas of the hotel
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a General Manager or similar leadership role in the hospitality industry
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations, front and back-of-house
- Strong knowledge of booking engines, PMS systems and online presence management
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and prioritize
- Proficiency with hotel management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) mandatory
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed
