Job Summary: The Floor Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations. This role ensures that guests receive the highest level of service, operations run smoothly, and the staff is trained, motivated, and productive. The Floor Manager will work closely with the culinary and front-of-house teams to create a seamless dining experience that meets the standards of excellence expected from a high-end restaurant in a luxury hotel.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Workflow Management:
- Ensure smooth communication and coordination between the kitchen and service team to maintain a high standard of service.
- Oversee the setup and breakdown of the restaurant, ensuring the cleanliness and readiness of dining areas before service.
- Monitor the flow of orders, service timings, and cleanliness throughout the shift, adjusting as necessary to maintain a top-tier dining experience.
Staff Supervision & Training:
- Manage the front-of-house team ensuring they are adhering to the hotel’s standards of service.
- Train new staff and conduct ongoing training sessions for existing team members on hospitality, service etiquette, menu knowledge, and operational procedures.
- Monitor employee performance and provide constructive feedback, addressing any issues related to service, attitude, or professionalism.
Guest Experience & Consistency:
- Handle guest complaints or special requests promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive and memorable experience.
- Oversee reservations and seating arrangements to optimize flow and accommodate our guests’ preferences.
- Ensure that food and beverage offerings meet the highest quality standards, and that presentation aligns with the boutique hotel’s brand.
- Maintain consistency in service standards, ensuring that each guest receives the same level of service excellence regardless of time or shift.
Leadership & Team Motivation:
- Support the restaurant manager in monitoring daily sales, and guest feedback, and reporting any discrepancies.
- Help manage stock levels for dining supplies, ensuring there is no shortage of essential items and that the restaurant operates efficiently.
- Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic, exceptional customer service, and a positive attitude.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, ensuring all team members feel valued and motivated.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including the proper handling of food and beverages, and cleanliness of restaurant areas.
- Conduct regular inspections of dining areas and equipment to ensure everything meets the required safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Skills and experience:
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Bartending experience is preferred.
- Wine knowledge is preferred.
- Knowledge of food and beverage offerings, and trends in the luxury dining industry.
- Familiarity with POS systems, reservations software, and scheduling tools.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in hospitality management, business, or a related field preferred.
- Serve Safe Certification required.
- Certified Food Safety Manager Certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
