What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Cost Analyst position at Hotwire Communications?
The Construction Cost Analyst contributes to the overall growth strategy of the company by leveraging skills in forecasting, predictive analytics, cost analysis, and data visualization to provide critical insight for operational and strategic decision-making.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Management of project data introduction into project management software, P.M.S.; producing construction project reports and dashboards for active construction projects
- Understand the complexities of large construction projects and provide P.M.S. guidance for construction project managers
- Ensure communication of changes in budget, scope, or timelines are reported accurately and in a timely manner.
- Act as ambassador of P.M.S., including implementing best practices, creating, and holding user training in the forms of live classes, recorded video guides, and instructional documentation for construction project management, and other appropriate parties.
- Mining, analyzing and interpreting construction project data to drive operational decision-making and aid in strategic and growth objectives.
- Provide comprehensive support and assistance for day-today strategic planning and project management activities, exercising sound judgment, accuracy, and accountability.
- Qualifying, tracking, and accurately forecasting project completion dates, billing conversions, and related impacts on revenue, cash flow, and overall business metric achievement.
- Participate in research and development of strategic and business plans consistent with the administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- Monitor industry trends and provide innovative ideas and solutions.
- Ensure organization meets regulatory and compliance requirements necessary for accreditations in collaboration with leadership team.
- Develop executive presentations that afford clear visualizations and tell a concise story fueled by data.
- Develop data analytics supporting the strategic planning process from development of initiative through implementation and tracking.
- Interpret and summarize internal/external data for high-level business direction and decision-making.
- Use of consistent and constant independent discretion over matters of significance.
- Ensure construction labor (contractor) invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist the vendor management team in reviewing bids/contract proposals to ensure alignment with budgeted amounts for SOW.
- Maintain and utilize labor vendor rate cards to ensure cost estimates support with actuals.
- Evaluate changes to project SOWs and impact on the overall project budget.
- Identify, report cost variations and provide full analysis for budget amendments.
- Prepare and maintain labor cost reports to identify variances.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, data science or business analytics.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data and present visual representations, including photographs.
- Expert-level computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, Strong Presentation Skills.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills (including public speaking) in English.
