Job Description
Summary/Objective
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for performing labor training events on primarily on-site/off-site projects and in an enclosed training facility. Training classes include technical, hands-on training for new students entering their career. The Quality Control Specialist will lead training designed to encompass a variety of construction processes with a focus on low sloped commercial roofing. This position will require generating products and materials needed for the curriculum, delivering online modules, and ensuring the overall training curriculum is delivered and continuously enhanced. Upon the successful completion of the program, students will be Houck-Certified and will have the basic skills necessary for advancement in Houck’s roofing departments.
In addition to training responsibilities the Quality Control Specialist will be required to visit active Houck job sites and inspect the work being performed by Houck. The Quality Control Specialist will examine finished and in process work and generate inspection reports from findings in the field. These findings should also be used in the development of future training.
Essential Functions:
- Deliver both technical and hands-on training classes to experienced roofers and new workers entering the Roofing Industry. Classes may include training in Low Slope (Commercial) products and materials. Teach roofing methods, including installation, repair, and maintenance of different roofing materials.
- Assist the HR Recruiter with recruiting duties in select markets.
- Work with superintendents and foremen to ensure advancement opportunities for employees within the roofing industry.
- Grow curriculum and training materials to cover various aspects of roofing, including safety protocols, installation techniques, and materials knowledge.
- Emphasize and enforce safety regulations and practices to ensure a secure working environment for roofing professionals.
- Instruct trainees on building codes, regulations, and standards related to roofing work.
- Evaluate trainees' progress and performance through assessments and feedback.
- Identify areas for improvement and provide constructive guidance.
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and trainee progress.
- Prepare reports as needed to track the effectiveness of the training program.
- Communicate effectively with trainees, addressing questions and concerns.
- Collaborate with other trainers, professionals, or organizations to enhance training programs (CERTA).
- Perform periodic quality assurance inspections as assigned by the director of operations.
- Interact with foreman and crewmen during assigned quality assurance roof inspections.
- Examine and report on all aspects of installed roofing systems including deficient and superior workmanship.
- Photograph the roof and prepare reports
- Accompany and/or assist the Superintendents on manufacturer roof inspections.
- Assisting Superintendents and Director of Operations with delivery of materials to the jobsite as needed.

Education/Experience
- Experience as a trainer or contractor
- Bi-lingual Spanish a plus
- 10 years of experience
