Day in the Life
The Renewals Specialist is responsible to protect the re-occurring revenue stream within the HMH organization by increasing renewal rates and boosting customer retention. Through effective collaboration with multiple Account Executives, Sales Managers & Directors, the Renewals Specialist is responsible for managing all renewal opportunities (SIS, Core & Services) in their assigned territory. The Renewals Specialist will successfully communicate to the customer on renewing and expanding the necessary licenses for student and teacher access to achieve sales and profit objectives.
- Develop account strategies and territory plans to achieve assigned revenue goals while building long-lasting client relationships
- Strategically plan renewal sales calls by outlining objectives and action steps. Clearly communicate to customers the benefits and features of retaining and expanding the program
- Demonstrate awareness of account history, the processes, and procedures specific to each district, and the key issues for each account
- Respond to customer requests with appropriate timeliness and concern; Develop professional credibility and trust with the customer
- Compile data from multiple systems and translate to customer in a clear and concise manner
- Forecast and track key metrics within Salesforce.com regularly.
- Transition programs to a Subscription service to safeguard program usage.
- Serve as lead contact for renewals business and partner with colleagues on renewal opportunities as appropriate.
- Proactively prepare cost proposals and work with internal teams to improve data accuracy.
- Works independently and as part of a team to achieve results
What You Need to be Successful
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 1 year sales experience with a proven track record in meeting quota
- Ability to communicate and interact with employees and customers at all levels, including the ability to give clear precise instructions that are readily understandable by non-technical users
- Highly organized, self-directed, and process-orientated with the ability to direct multiple projects simultaneously
- Detail oriented, with strong organizational skills
- Excellent active listening and communication skills
Nice to Have
- Educational/Technology sales experience is desirable
- Proficient in MS Office and CRM Software
- Gainsight Experience a Plus

Physical Requirements
- Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers and travel up to 10% of the time.
Benefits and Salary Range:
Salary Range: $48,000 - 52,000 plus incentive. Our salary ranges are based on national averages. We have wide ranges so we can be flexible and determine compensation based on a number of factors including the candidate’s skills, experience, education and location.
