Vice President, Merchandising - Knoxville, TN
Lead the charge in shaping the future of independent hardware retail! As Vice President of Merchandising at House-Hasson Hardware, you'll drive sales, profitability, and market expansion by executing strategic merchandising plans, overseeing vendor relations, and managing product offerings across our four U.S. warehouses.
Your Role:
- Develop and implement merchandising strategies aligned with company goals and market demands.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and dealers to secure favorable terms and product selection.
- Oversee category management, product lifecycle, and SKU optimization to maximize profitability.
- Monitor industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape to inform merchandising decisions.
- Direct purchasing and procurement functions to ensure adequate inventory levels while optimizing turnover.
- Work closely with sales and marketing teams to create promotional plans that drive engagement and sales.
- Develop private label and exclusive product programs to differentiate House-Hasson in the market.
- Lead and manage the merchandising team, providing guidance, development, and performance oversight.
- Analyze financial and operational data, including sales performance, margins, and inventory metrics, to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, dealer agreements, and industry regulations.
- Partner with independent retailers to understand their needs and provide tailored merchandising solutions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret sales and market data to inform decisions.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Knowledge of inventory management best practices and pricing strategies.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational goals.
- Proficiency in merchandising software and data analytics tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in merchandising, category management, or purchasing within the hardware, home improvement, or related industry.
- Proven leadership experience in a senior merchandising role with direct responsibility for vendor negotiations and product strategy.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer.
- Ability to travel as needed for vendor meetings, industry events, dealer visits, etc.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
