What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ice Cream Technician 2nd Shift position at House Of Flavors Inc?
SUMMARY: Providing safe and quality food is the job of all House of Flavors employees. The Ice Cream Technician level I (previously Production Line Attendant), an at-will employee working under the direction of the Operations Supervisor with guidance from Line Leaders, performs a variety of tasks associated with the production and packaging of ice cream and other frozen dairy desserts according to food safety and food quality policies and practices as well as general employee safety practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.) Follows established processes and procedure to place packaging components (cartons, lids, tissues) together on the finished ice cream or frozen dairy dessert product. Maintains an acceptable degree of consistency and speed in order to meet productivity and quality standards. Monitors the process, the machine(s) and the product for inconsistencies, making modifications as instructed or alerting Line Leader of inconsistencies and concerns.
2.) Places filled containers/cartons in boxes or trays as required to maintain an acceptable level of consistency and speed in order to meet productivity and quality standards. Observes product packaging assuring that product is sealed and wrapped consistently. Checks product code dating as required.
3.) Monitors conveyor or other mechanical components in a designated area to avoid production jamming and assure quality packaging.
4.) Cleans and sanitizes line equipment after production runs. Performs constant clean-up of work area throughout the shift to assure product is clean and work area is clutter free and safe. Performs area clean up at the end of the shift as instructed by the supervisor.
5.) Effectively communicates and collaborates as a member of the Production team, learning the jobs of different workstations included in this job description, enabling the ability to rotate from job to job giving breaks or filling in when other employees are absent.
6.) Recognizes allergen related issues and seek to fix concerns related to the companys allergen procedure/policy.
7.) Performs other duties as required, including weighing product, rewrap and/or remelt and inventory.
8.) Completes all other duties as assigned, including working with the Production Supervisor and other managers to enhance the overall profitability of the operation.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent is required along with a minimum of 3 months of work experience in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience. The ability to work cooperatively in a team environment is essential.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and write to follow instructions; create and respond to documents; understand and follow company policies; and effectively present information verbally to others.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to match numbers such as product codes and to perform simple mathematical calculations and understand simple numerical specifications including reading temperatures and time calculations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions. Basic understanding of mechanical processes to carry out the operation of machines.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, including walking, for periods up to 10 hours. The constant use of hands and arms during this time including lifting, pulling, reaching, and fine manipulation is required. The use of hand tools requiring a substantial grip is occasionally required. The employee may be required to stoop or crouch. The employee may work in an environment where the temperature is near 32 degrees above zero. The employee is required to talk and hear.
The employee must be able to lift 30 pounds continuously and up to 60 pounds as needed.

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee regularly works with moving mechanical components and is regularly exposed to high levels of noise. Safety equipment may be required. The employee works in a wet environment where floors are slippery and splashing water, ice cream ingredients and sanitation solution is frequently present.
COMMENTS AND/OR ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee is required to wear an approved uniform which is provided by the company. The employee is required to wear safety toed boots that can withstand water, food products, and chemical contact. The employee is required to wear a hairnet and, if facial hair is present, a beard net. The ability to use gloves for food safety while working is required.
