Position Summary: The Clinical Child & Family Specialist, under direct supervision of the Clinical Director, is responsible for providing Child-Centered Play Therapy and other therapeutic interventions to children and families engaged in The Child & Family Wellness Program.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work and active LMSW in the state of Texas.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
- Must pass a background check.
- Lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience working with children and/or school-based settings preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and time management.
- Demonstrate ability to function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Commitment to working with underserved communities and improving mental health access.
- Proficient in maintaining client caseload. Interest in pursuing clinical hours and receiving clinical supervision within the agency.
Responsibilities:
- Train in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), and Child-Teacher Relationship Therapy (CTRT.)
- Provide Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) to children engaged in services with the Child & Family Wellness Program, Bienestar Juntos.
- Conduct initial screenings and comprehensive biopsychosocial intakes to assess child and family needs.
- Provide psychoeducation, consultation, and support to families to enhance understanding of mental health, child development, and their role in the services.
- Facilitate workshops, groups, and community education events for families, staff, and community members to increase mental health awareness.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to collaborate with other providers and staff and develop support plans that monitor progress towards goals for each child’s development.
- Conduct outreach and community engagement to build partnerships with organizations to increase program awareness and referrals for program participation.
- Maintain confidentiality of all records and documentation.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation that includes interventions and progress, and prepare monthly reports required by the agency.
- Support interns in their training, development, and execution of program assignments.
- Uphold all ethical guidelines and best practices, research, and trends in mental health, child development, and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Report suspected child abuse and neglect as required by law and adhere to agency crisis protocol.
- Other duties as assigned.
